Kazu woke up the next day earlier than usual, he opened his window and sighed in disappointed when he saw the hard rain falls from the sky and along with the strong wind. He grabbed his phone, type a short message to Sho,

TORN PART 4

How can we go?

He walked back to his bed and throws his body to the warm blanket, a reply from Sho came.

This is only rain.

Kazu jumped to his window again and found Sho is waving to him, Kazu smiled and he didn’t waste much time, changed his clothes and took his school bag, he didn’t want his brother knows that he will look for Satoshi. He run down the stairs and saw his brother already prepared the breakfast.

“Kazu chan, here your milk and bread”, Masaki handed him a piece of cheese bread, his favourite in the morning.

“Thanks nii-chan, but I have early exam this morning”, Kazu took the bread only and run to the door.

“Good luck then”, Masaki shouted when Kazu already out of the door, he was a little bit relieve that Kazu doesn’t worry too much about Satoshi, and Masaki hopes everything will be fine, at least Satoshi is with their mother, safe and comfort. He drinks the milk which ignored by his little brother and walked to the kitchen, eat breakfast alone. He must confess the he misses Satoshi as well.

Sho is already waiting for Kazu, he wears thick jacket to prevent his body from the wind, he smiled widely when he saw Kazu run closer to him, brought the cute yellow umbrella on his hand.

“Ohayou Kazu chan”, Sho stepped under Kazu’s umbrella and forced himself to be close to the shorter.

“What are you doing? Don’t you see it’s not enough for us?”, Kazu didn’t want to share the umbrella with Sho but the later prevent himself to be there.

“Until we find the bus Kazu chan, if I get sick who will accompany you?”, Sho pursued the younger with puppy expression and Kazu tried hard not to laugh.

“Fine”, Kazu walked faster, leaving Sho behind.

“Hei!!”, Sho runs to chase Kazu and grabbed the umbrella, “It’s better if I hold it for you”, he leaned closer, really hope that Kazu let him to hold his shoulder but when he moved his hand, Kazu turned his head to him and stopped walked immediately, Sho arrange his face as normal as he could.

“Sho kun, what will I say if I meet him?”, Kazu murmured, he never fight with Satoshi before and this first time is killing him, even Satoshi is so kind and never angry but the mistake that he had done was destroying Satoshi’s heart and he couldn’t join the painting exhibition just because of him. He felt like a little needle stabbed his heart when he imagine that Satoshi doesn’t want to see him again.

“Say that you regret what you have done, you two are twins, I think your bond is so much stronger than common brothers”, Sho showed his teeth, giving his support to the shorter, pat Kazu’s shoulder and dragged him to walk again.

“I will help you to melt his heart”.

Kazu nodded and realize that Sho’s hand is on his shouldel, “Who permits you to hold me freely?”, Kazu throw Sho’s hand away and run to the bus station, he jumped in to the bus and fold his umbrella, it’s quite enough because of the rain and they go so early, he chose the back seat, beside the window, Sho followed and sit next to him. Need an hour and a half to reach Kazu’s mother house, in every station the bus will stop and other passengers walk in and out, when Sho finally doze off and his head dropped to Kazu’s shoulder, a handsome young boy enters the bus and Kazu’s eyes opens wide.

“Kazunari kun, ohayou”, Jun took a seat across Kazu and Sho, and Kazu wished he could throw Sho away out of the window, dreaming that the one who sleeps in his shoulder is Jun instead of Sho.

“Ohayou senpai”, he mumbled unclearly, Jun smiled and his gaze turns to Sho, “It’s rare to see you this early”, Jun commented, and before Kazu can answer he continued, “Did you hand the brush to Satoshi kun?”.

“Errrr, yes, he said thank you”, Kazu’s mind flied to the brush inside his bag, and he felt guilty to see Jun’s happy face. “I hope I can visit your home again, I don’t hear anything about the painting competition, did your brother win?”.

Kazu doesn’t have any idea how to answer Jun’s question and he’s about to open his mouth to tell the truth when Jun stood up, “We’re here”, he pointed their school and his face questioned Kazu who sit still on the chair.

“Errr I have to visit my grandma, I take day off”, he lied and waved his hand to Jun, “I see, have fun”, Jun walked to the exit door and he watched Jun from the window until he disappeared from his sight. He glanced to Sho, the man seems didn’t hear anything and Kazu already tell two lies this morning, first to his brother and now to Jun. He closed his eyes and Satoshi’s face appears, the sad face when he knelt down to his destroyed painting, he deserved more than a slap from his elder brother Masaki, or even from Satoshi. He grabbed his pocket and found the picture on his wallet, he and Satoshi were laughed together under a big tree, where they played RC car, he wiped Satoshi’s face in the picture and realize how much he means to him.

The bus stopped and Kazu shook Sho’s head to wake him up. “Are we there yet?”, Sho stretched his hands and spread his sight around, Kazu didn’t answer, he inserted the wallet back to his pocket and told Sho to stand up faster. Both of them jumped down from the bus, the rain still fall hardly, Kazu shivered and tighten his jacket. He took the paper from another pocket where his mother’s address written, according to this, they only need to walk two blocks away. “Come on Sho kun”, he walked fast and as usual Sho must tried hard to catch his steps.

They walked in silent, Kazu’s head imagining what will he say when he meet up with Satoshi and he also didn’t see his mother for a long time, he wonders what kind of reaction he will get from his mother who looks like a stranger to him. They only stopped when a taxi passed by, Kazu saw two passengers inside and he didn’t pay attention more, he dragged Sho again.

“Kazu chan, I saw Satoshi inside the taxi”, Sho pointed the taxi which moved farther from them.

“Your eyes made mistake, you’re just awake Sho kun”, Kazu still walked but Sho stood still in his place, “I’m sure that’s him, maybe he will go somewhere”, Sho let the rain hit his head, he saw Kazu who stopped and frowned badly.

“He’s not going anywhere”, Kazu tried to ensure himself that Sho made mistake, he didn’t want to believe it, if that taxi brought Satoshi he will wait in his mother’s house until Satoshi comeback, he can’t wait to see his twin spread his arms and hold each other like what they always do when they separated for a long time.

“I’ll wait until he comes back”, Kazu shouted, he left Sho behind and almost run, he saw the address and check his paper to make sure and his heart beat fast when he walked closer to the gate. He saw an empty house welcomed him, he pushed the bell, hope someone will open the gate but when he did it many times he must confess that Sho was right, Satoshi was the one inside the taxi.

“Maybe he went for shopping”, Kazu approached Sho, share his umbrella to the taller man who is completely wet, but still smile warmly to the shorter, “So what will we do now?”, Sho rubs his hands and shivered, he stared to Kazu, see the disappointment majoring his face.

“I’ll wait”, Kazu leaned to the cold wall, followed by Sho beside him, Sho didn’t say anything, hope the rain will stop because he is cold half death right now, they wait for one hour, two hours, three hours, Sho almost cramp his hands and he is so hungry, “Kazu, I think he’s not coming back, we almost here half a day”, Sho’s words are tremble due to the cold weather and his body can’t hold it anymore. He saw Kazu’s face turning pale and colourless and nodded weakly.

“Let’s go home”, Sho dragged the younger’s hand, Kazu didn’t deny him or say something, he wiped his eyes, tried to hide his tears from Sho and both of them walked back to the main street, looking for bus to go home, along the way Kazu closed his eyes, deny the hamburger which Sho bought for them.

“Kazu chan, don’t torture yourself, the timing was bad, you’ll meet him again, tell your big brother to call”, Sho entertain Kazu but the later didn’t reply at all, he can’t say anything, he’s mad, this is the first time Satoshi abandoned him like this, it explains how much Satoshi hates him. They reached home when it almost dark and Kazu walked lazily to his house without reply Sho’s good bye. He opened his shoes and opened the door, he almost fell down when he saw his brother stood right in front of the door, crossed his arms and looked frightened.

Y “What kind of lie that you told me this morning?”, Masaki hissed and stared scarily to Kazu wet clothes, “I called to your school and they said you didn’t attend your class, explain!”.

Kazu glanced back to Masaki but didn’t answer, he walks inside, passed Masaki and headed his room, but before he reached his door, Masaki’s hands tugged him, “Nii-chan I’m cold, I want to change my clothes”, Kazu threw his brother’s hand, “Wait, you didn’t answer me yet, where have you been?”, Masaki lowered his head, looked through his littler brother’s eyes closely to find any honest answer there.

“I was looking for Satoshi, satisfied?”, Kazu left Masaki to his room before he asked more questions to him. He slammed the door, approached his bathroom, throws his wet clothes and buried himself to the bathtub. He just remembered he has real test for the next day and he didn’t study at all, he ruffled his head again, cursed, and need the way out. If he got low mark this semester, his father will be so mad at him and Jun even go farther than he did. He pulled himself out from the bathtub, wrapped himself with the big towel and run to his study desk, he grabbed his note book and can’t believe that he must study so many subjects, it means he has no time to sleep. For a while he moved Satoshi away and forced himself to focus on his study, for the first time he realize his stomach is empty and beg for food. He wears his pyjamas, opened the door and saw his brother is reading something on the couch.

Kazu walked to the kitchen, checked whether his brother cooked something, “I made pasta for you”, Masaki followed the younger to the kitchen and pat Kazu’s shoulder, Ï didn’t mean to scold you, I just so worry about you boy”, Kazu looked up and smiled, “I know Nii-chan”, he took the pasta from Masaki and walked back to his room, “I have real test tomorrow and I don’t study yet, I think I must wake all night”, Kazu murmured, he saw an understanding grin in Masaki’s face, he closed the door once again, sighed deeply.

“ Wherever you are, I hope you are happy tonight, Satoshi”, Kazu started to open his note book, while eating his pasta, tried to remember all the subjects before dawn.
