NEXT TO YOU
PART 1
No one can forbid you from who to fall in love with, but what if you fall in love with the person who can’t be accepted in your community, especially when he is truly different from you.
Ohno put on his apron and get ready for work. He runs a teahouse and this morning is another crowded time for him. It was when he lifted his tray for the countless time that morning and brought it to the table at the corner of the room, where he saw four muscular men there, sat around the table while grinned to each other.
Ohno tried to hide his worry behind his smile. He hoped there’s nothing will happen. He put the cups in front of them and served them to drink the tea when he found his wrist was gripped by the biggest man.
“Sir, I have to get back to work,” Ohno spoke in the calm and soft tone he could make. He has a bad feeling about it.
“I’ve never seen anybody cuter than you, why don’t you join us to sit here?” the grip on his wrist got stronger and Ohno still smile, hoped this man will release his hand. But his hope was useless when another men gripped his other hand and he felt strong finger touched his chin.
“At least give me a kiss,” the face got closer to him and he turned his head aside, tried to look for help but the other customers freeze on their seat. Clearly didn’t dare to move and Ohno realize that nobody will help him. He tried to free himself but when it came to avail, he knew how helpless he was, he just closed his eyes, waiting for the worst to happen.
But the man never touches him since he already lied on the floor. Covered his bleeding face in faint which was stabbed by unseen thing. But Ohno still can’t get himself free, the other men still grip him. Not for long time though. The same thing attacked them and their hands which hold Ohno bleeding hard. The teahouse owner quickly stepped farther but he’s too late, the last man held his body and pointed a sharp knife to his neck.
“Show yourself or I’ll cut his neck,” the man threatened him, push the knife to his skin and he felt his skin was grazed under the knife.
“What a coward,” he heard a voice from one of the table. He never saw the man before, since this man is wearing a hat which covered his eyes. The voice was low, deep, and for some unexplainable reason, Ohno shivered by that voice.
The man stood up slowly from his chair and headed Ohno’s place, he isn’t as big as the bad men or muscular. Ohno was worry that the man will be killed instead of saving him, especially now he felt the knife is being pushed stronger than before.
“I’ll kill him,” the man behind him spoke again. His other three friends rose from the floor and attacked the hat man. Ohno can’t see the details, all he knew all of the bad men were lying on the floor and the one who left is the man behind him, who pushed the knife even stronger.
“Let him go,” the same low deep voice heard and Ohno guessed he will die when the knife stabbed on his neck, but he’s not.
The knife flew across the room and landed on a table. All other customers choose that time to run away. Leaving the place and the owner who panting, holding his own elbow which was hurt by the man when they gripped him so hard. He tilted his head up, that man’s hat opened and there Ohno saw the weirdest but the most handsome face on earth.
This man had brown hair which is quite long, reached his neck and his eyes. Ohno had to blink few times to assure himself that he didn’t imagining it. Those eyes were purple instead of brown or black, and when he glanced to the other’s hands, he saw something like claws, yellow and sharp, but before he could analyze farther, the man hid his hands under his cloak.
“Are you okay?” the man approached him and Ohno collected his braveness to look at him on the eye. Amazingly, he was not scared at all. This weird handsome man saved him from the worst thing. The shorter nodded weakly, wanted to ask something, but his words left his mouth already.
“Be careful, they might be back again,” the man unexpectedly smiled and Ohno felt his heart jumped to his throat. This creature truly the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in his life.
“Thank you Sir,” he stammered and realized his gaze is impolite since he measured everything in this man’s body.
“You have a nice teahouse Ohno san,” the man smiled wider and he took his hat from the floor, “I’ll visit again next time,” he turned around and headed the door. Ohno didn’t know why his feet suddenly moved and blocked the man’s steps.
“Sir, I didn’t say my grateful properly. Would you like to drink another tea? And I must know my savior’s name”
He saw the man put off his hat again, looked through his eyes, “Call me Jun,” That’s all he said and then he disappeared to the crowded.
Ohno bites his lower lips, wished he could see that man a little bit longer before he returned inside and arranged his table position to the proper place and cleaned the mess. He was surely scared for the incident just now, but he also felt something pleasant in his heart. He fell in love to that Jun.
That guy’s smile still remained, popped into his brain and those purple eyes lingered in his mind. He knew that man was not a usual human or maybe not even a human, but he couldn’t name him. He shook his head, smiled to himself and took all the cups then cleaned them in his kitchen.
***
It had been a month since that day. Every single morning, Ohno still hoped he will see the tall man with light brown hair visited his teahouse but the one he waited for never appeared. Only the ordinary people from the town whose hair was not brown and of course, they didn’t have any purple eyes.
When he finished serving the last tea that afternoon, he took the paper and a brush, tried to draw Jun’s handsome face there and he looked at his painting for a long time, didn’t realize there’s a customer called for him.
He walked immediately to a man who called for him and bowed, “I am sorry for my clumsiness,” Ohno accidently bring the painting along with him and he dropped it.
“It’s okay, can I order a cup of green tea and a bread? I am so tired of traveling all day and this place seems a perfect spot to relax, according to the people around here,” he added.
“Thank you Sir, please wait a moment,” Ohno’s mind still focused to Jun in his drawing. He prepared the man’s order and when he returned to the table, he was surprised to see his drawing is in the man’s hand. The man saw Jun’s painted face in a very suspicious way, something like anger and curious.
“Sir, your tea please.”
“Where did you get it?” Ohno glanced to the drawing and then to the man in front of him in silent.
“I’m looking for him,” that man continued, “Have you ever met him?”
Ohno still didn’t answer the question, something told him to lie,
“No, I never meet this man, I think some kids drop this painting Sir. I’m not sure he’s the man you’re looking for,” He didn’t look to the man’s eyes when he spoke, pretended that he is busy with the cups and bread.
“Please enjoy your tea, before it gets cold,” Ohno prepared to return to his counter when the man called again.
“If you see him, can you tell me, or tell him, Sakurai Sho is looking for him. There’s something that we have to finish, if you don’t mind,” that man showed Ohno his smiley teeth and Ohno replied nervously. He sighed and watched that man from behind the counter. He didn’t want to know what kind of business that guy and Jun had. He waited until the man left and took his drawing back, put it safely on his desk.

At some following nights, the thunder strike the earth, the wind shakes the windows and the dark clouds covered the sky. It wasn’t took too long before the heavy rain fell hard, send tons of water to the ground and caused everything wet and cold.
Ohno closed his last windows on his shop, tightened his coat and shivered of the coldness stabbed his spine. He was ready to blow off his candles and got ready for bed when he heard someone knocked at his door.
This is weird, everybody knew his teahouse closed after the dark and he suddenly felt scared, what if the one who knocked was the bad men who returned to take revenge. he took a stick from his room and headed the door.
“Who’s that?” His voice was trembling. He stepped carefully and opened the door a bit but he couldn’t find anyone even after he looked around. When he was about to closed the door, he looked down and found someone lied there. The blood covered his feet and arms, so fragile and he pant so badly. Ohno knelt down but then he recognized the brown hair.
“Jun-sama,” he took Jun’s body and turned him up. Ohno saw the face also full of scratches.
“Help me,” Jun whispered, heard so weak and faint.
Ohno put all his effort to help the other get up and since Jun is bigger than him, it was not an easy task. Finally he could bring Jun inside and made him sit. Jun still panted and his eyes were shut. Ohno got up to find some medicine to reduce the pain when Jun gripped his wrist.
“Don’t go,”
“Jun-sama, I want to get you some medicine, they will reduce your pain.”
Jun shook his head, “I-don’t-need-it,” his breath became steadier now. “I just need few hours to cure myself,” he continued.
Ohno didn’t understand what Jun mean by his words but he sat there next to Jun who still gripped his hand tightly as if he was scared Ohno will leave him. Ohno watched the face he had been longing for. How he saw Jun’s pretty eyes in his dream and waited for his appearance every day.
Next thing he saw was something unbelievable. Jun’s face turned smooth, the scratches disappeared and the blood on his legs, also his arms stopped. The wound cured magically by itself as if it erased by unseen eraser. Jun opened his eyes and checked his body and then he locked his gaze to Ohno’s shocked face.
“I told you, I can cure myself,” Jun smiled to him and he found his face becomes warm. He wanted to distract his eyes but he can’t. He must saw Jun’s purple eyes while he can before this man disappeared again.
“Jun-sama, what are you?” Ohno asked in whisper, afraid that his voice will be heard from outside, though the storm still hit the earth hardly.
“I am something your kind will never like,” Jun answered bitterly. His eyes changed sad and he held Ohno’s hand in softer way,
“But you’re different, I’ve been stalking you since a long time,” Jun admitted and Ohno just felt his soul left his body, Jun stalked him?
“I know you’re not a human, your eyes are…”
Jun smirked and he showed Ohno other thing, his hands. The long yellow nails which look like claws clearly seen, “Don’t you scared of me?” Jun asked him.
“No, I don’t,” Ohno honestly said. He never once felt afraid of Jun, instead of scary, he found Jun as so handsome.
“Jun-sama is not scary at all, you saved my life and I never feel that I thanked you enough. I’ve been waiting for you to come,” Ohno whisper so softly, scooted over in his chair.
Jun gave him another smile and Ohno leaned closer to him. He touched Jun’s lips with his and Jun instantly replied. He looked into Jun’s eyes while kissing his lips and slowly moved to straddle the most beautiful creature.
“I love you, Jun-sama,” he whispered those words to Jun’s ear and all he knew next was the fact that he shared the longest but the happiest night in his life, the night which he will never forget till the day he dies.
However, when the morning came, he found himself alone on his bed and Jun was gone but Ohno believed the other will comeback for him. His hand search for the warmth he lingered to the whole night when he saw something under the pillow. The scarf which covered Jun’s neck, he left it here.
Ohno took it and brought it to his face, smelt Jun’s scent there. He touched his neck and checked his reflection on the mirror, afraid that Jun might be left some mark there. He sighed in relieve when he found none. He washed his face, dressed properly and get ready to open his shop.
