chapter 8
Jun darted to his car, the rain completely wetted his head and his shoes. The graveyard was quite, nobody visits in this pouring rain but him. He held his umbrella tighter, felt the cold air hit his face. He manages to go to the clothing shop to buy something for Nino, but he cancelled it, because his clothes are totally wet, maybe it’s better for him to back home. His foot step make a sound on the wet ground, he is too busy seeing the mud under him until he felt somebody is walking closer.
He tilted to see who’s coming, never expect that he would find his boss in the place like this, his right hand is gripping a big umbrella and the other one holding something like a paper, his face color showed that he’s not happy, well, this is a graveyard after all, the place where nobody can feel happy.
“Sho san…” Jun met the confusing gaze welcomed him, perhaps Sho feels exactly the same with him, why they meet by chance in the place like this.
“Matsumoto san, I…really need to talk with you,” Sho’s words heard so stammered and doubt. Jun glanced to the paper on Sho’s fold, he wonders that the paper contained something very important, something about Sho’s new case or anything else which makes Sho’s face looked worry and hold the paper like a diamond.
“Can you wait for me here? I’ll be very quick,” Sho stepped away without waiting for Jun to answer, Jun walked to his car and wait there. Half of his mind told him to go away from here, to his house, grabbed Nino and make sure that Sho will never find where they are, but he stayed there, waiting for Sho to come. Jun guessed inside his mind that Sho is here for one of his family or relatives, but he brought no flower in his hand, maybe he wants to say hello to his old friend who died first.
He waits for another fifteen minutes, his boss walked to his car with the same gloomy face.
“Can I come in?” Sho asked.
“Sure,” Jun watched the lawyer walked around to the passenger’s seat door, opened it and sit down beside him.
“I don’t know where to start but I have to tell you this.”
Jun can’t hide his frightened face, he already guessed from the very beginning, since Sho told him about his lost son.
“I just found my ex-wife’s will before she committed suicide,” he laid his gaze to the paper on his hand, sighed and continued, “She wrote about our son, the kid that I’ve been looking for these times, my wife didn’t give him my name but hers,” Sho sighed once again, he looked at Jun who felt his heart hit his rib strongly.
“The kid’s name is Ninomiya Kazunari, the one you adopted from the orphanage.”
“NO!” Jun breathed hard, Sho must mistake it, there’s no proof that Nino is his son, he just made up the story to take Nino away from him, Jun won’t and never believe it.
“Nino is not your son,” Jun gripped the wheel, he felt empty and didn’t know what to do, it must be a joke, why now? When he finally accept Nino into his life?
“Matsumoto san, I must admit one more thing to you,” Sho leaned to him, didn’t affected by Jun’s expression.
“I wish you were mine instead of your husband’s, we can own Nino together, I know it sounds crazy but I can’t hold it anymore, perhaps you won’t meet me anymore after this, but before it happens, I wanted to tell you what I feel,” Sho pulled himself further, opened the car’s door and left Jun alone inside the car. The rain didn’t give any sign to stop, Jun closed his eyes. Sho has just confessed to him, after the most shocking reality he brought along with his ex wife’s will.
“Nino,” he whispered to himself, “I won’t hand you to anyone,” he started his engine, drove his car without concentration, he almost crushes a few cars along his way, it’s lucky that he can be home safely. The darkness already covered the sky when he finally parked his car inside his garage. He stepped into the house with the terrible feeling.
“Matsumoto san, okaeri nasai,” Nino ran to him from the sofa, he smiled to Jun.
Jun looked down to the innocent face, he squatted, what will Nino do if Jun tells him about his real parents? About his mother who committed suicide and his father is Sakurai Sho, Jun’s boss. He brought Nino to his embrace, there’s no one may own Nino more than him. however there is a possibility that Sho is wrong about Nino, maybe Nino’s name is just the same with his lost son, Jun can only think about that to entertain himself.
“Tadaima Nino,” he holds Nino tighter, forgot about Ohno who is still have the high fever.

“I wish you were mine instead of your husband’s, we can own Nino together”
Sho’s words lingered to his head, Jun never can decide whether he likes Sho or not, but he remembered that he feels comfort around the lawyer. He imagines that he made the crazy decision to leave Ohno for Sho, they live together with Nino, he didn’t have any braveness to tell Ohno about it, that Nino is Sho’s son, his frightened comes to life.
“Like what I told you, I am better than your husband.”
“Matsumoto san, are you okay?”
Jun turned his head, he’s totally drowned inside his mind, he blinked confusingly, seeing Aiba in front of him with his usual dirty apron.
“Y-yes I am okay,” he played with the pencil on his hand, he came here to accompany Nino who wanted to meet his friends. Jun still go to Sho’s office, something that he knows was very stupid, he doesn’t understand his own feeling, he can’t love two men at the same time, that’s not right.
However, he talked with Sho about Nino again, Jun asked the lawyer not to tell the kid about the reality so soon, out of his expectation, Sho agreed. Jun pretended that nothing happens to Ohno who asked him continuously if he’s okay, they didn’t talk much lately. Jun would busy himself with his recipes or help Nino with his homework, he dragged himself from Ohno with the guilty feeling.
He walks home with Nino, heard Nino talked about what he did with his friends at the orphanage kitchen but he can’t answer properly. As they arrived home, Jun dragged Nino to his room, squatted and looks through the boy’s eyes.
“Nino, do you like Sakurai san?” Jun asked, he can see Nino’s face changed into confusing reaction.
He gave Jun a little nod, “I like Sakurai san.”
“How about Satoshi?”
Jun knows that Ohno only have a little time to spend with Nino among his busy work, perhaps they never really talk or have lunch together properly.
“I like him too,” Nino answered sincerely, he ran to his table and took his drawing book, “Ohno san drew something for me,” the kid showed Jun the beautiful drawing which make his throat choked.
Nino is between him and Ohno in that drawing, holding hands to each other, Ohno perfectly express the happiness faces in that paper, something that Jun missed for a long time. He watched the drawing for another few minutes, closed the book and handed it back to Nino.
“You said you want to be with me forever?” Jun asked again.
“Yes.”
“No matter what happen?” he knows that he’s very stupid for trying to persuade a little kid, but this all he can do now, he even didn’t tell Ohno anything. His blood rippled when he remembered Sho’s words once again, he can have Nino for all time if he agreed to be with Sho and leave Ohno. But his love for Ohno is different, maybe Ohno didn’t show him all of his romantic side, but he understands Jun more than anyone else, someone who never shouts at him no matter how stupid he is. So he took a deep breath and decided to talk with Ohno about everything tonight.

Jun bought a lot of vegetables for their dinner, he just realize that he left his phone at home when he opened his bag to withdraw the wallet. He carried the plastic bag and stepped to the house, he wanted to have a serious talk with Ohno after the dinner. He opened the gate, walked to his door and brought his foot in.
He never thought that a hard slap welcomed his face right when he’s already in, the plastic bag fell apart from his hand, he staggered, holds his cheek and tried to see the man in front of him.
“Satoshi,” he can’t believe what he saw, no, he’s not Ohno, all he can see is a man who is out of control.
“I love you Jun, but not when you betray me,” Ohno whispered between his anger, Jun saw his phone in Ohno’s hand. His realization hit his head, Ohno must find something unusual in his phone which gained his anger and accused him betraying him.
“You got it wrong Satoshi, I never betray you,” Jun’s sight wandered around the room, Nino is not there, he has been taken away.
“I’ll let you go if you want to leave me,” Ohno tried hard to control his voice but it still trembled so badly, Jun stood and looked at him, Ohno’s face returned to normal but his eyes were redden and wet, he cried, Jun is about to open his mouth, but Ohno already ran out of the door.
“No, Satoshi! Wait! Wait,” Jun chased him out of the house, but he slipped and fell down in front of his door, Ohno already in the car and drove away when he finally able to stand again.
“Satoshi!!,” he cried out, he just remembered about Nino and darted into the house to find the emptiness welcomed him, he slumped to the floor, grabbed his hair and cursed himself, took his phone and throw it across the room. Ohno left him alone, he doesn’t know where Nino is or who took him, this is the end of his life, he replied the word ‘stupid’ inside his mind.
Maybe Ohno would never come back again after what happened between them, he accused Jun as a betrayer, the worst thing which can happen in the relationship. He wished Ohno stayed longer to listen to his explanation, to talk about it properly and about Nino. Did Ohno know about the kid’s father? His head began to spin, he crawled to the balcony, and cried there.
“Satoshi, come back,” he whispered between his sobs, he just realize how much he loves Ohno, that he doesn’t want to lose the man. Jun lay down to the cold floor, surrender, didn’t know what to do, his head is empty, he just wants to lose his conscious, wake up and all of these are just bad dreams. He felt the cold water drop on his head when it started to rain, he doesn’t want to move, let himself wet and cold on the floor.
Jun didn’t know how many hours had passed since he’s here, he just wants to die of the coldness and his hopeless on everything, he wished Sora would come and take his hand to the heaven, slowly he closed his eyes and lose his conscious.

In the other side, Ohno drove aimlessly around the town, his head is empty, doesn’t want to think about his fight with Jun or Sho who suddenly came to his house and took Nino with him, he was shocked when the lawyer told him that he is Nino’s biological father, Ohno requested DNA test to prove it, but he didn’t get the satisfying answer. The message which he read on Jun’s phones accidentally, the words which make his mind dark and can’t think of a single thing but to scream at Jun who betrayed him behind his back.
No matter how much he tried to forget their fight, Jun’s face which begged him not to go appeared in his head clearly, he can’t imagine if Jun is in somebody else’s arm, he won’t let it happen, though he gave Jun a chance to choose, but he never want it, he loves Jun with all his heart.
His phone rang, an unknown number appeared and he picked it up without thinking. A voice heard from the other line, tell him to go to a certain place where the person who called him want to clear everything. Ohno’s eyes widen in surprise, he didn’t answer the phone but turn his car to the place which mentioned by the caller.
