Jun couldn’t close his eyes even though the doctor explained that his daughter is okay, just a common fever and she would be fine in few days. This just too much for his heart to handle. Ohno is in jail, he was almost rapped, he can’t get a job, Nino forced him to divorce and now his daughter lie down weakly on hospital’s bed. He was scared to close his eyes and welcome the new tomorrow which might also bring the new disaster.
“Jun kun, here,” Aiba handed him a plastic cup of coffee. He also bought three boxes of bento for all of them which made Jun so grateful although the one who supposed to do that was Ohno, if his husband was beside him, he thought bitterly.
“Thanks Aiba san, you don’t need to stay here all night,” Jun said. It was almost in the middle of the night, he felt guilty that he made AIba involved.
“It’s okay, I don’t have any work tomorrow, beside, Yuri is my best friend’s daughter too.” he sat down in front of Jun, gulped his own coffee.
“By the way is there any possibility for Ohno kun to be released?” Aiba asked.
Jun didn’t answer immediately, he thought about what Sakurai told him, perhaps there’s still hope, even the tiniest one.
“I hope so,” Jun tasted the coffee which sent the warmth to his stomach. He just realized that he’s hungry. He rose from his chair and wake Ogura up, thinking the old man must feel the same.
“Ogura san, let’s have our supper,” Jun shook the old man’s shoulder softly until he blinked, rubbed his eyes and thanked Jun when he handed the box.
“Aiba san treat,” Jun said. Ogura looked at Aiba who bowed a bit.
“How’s Yuri?” Ogura questioned while opening the bento box.
“She would be fine,” Jun also opened his own, “I’m sorry that you must accompany me here.”
“What are you saying? Yuri chan is just like my real grand kid,” Ogura waved his hand, indicated that he doesn’t mind it at all.
“I wish Satoshi were here,” Jun mentioned sadly. He felt that his shoulder was too tired to hold all of the problems. Without Ohno by his side, he couldn’t do anything right.
Jun only ate half of the food on the box, he stepped towards Yuri’s bed, watched her daughter’s face to calm his heart a little bit.
Yuri slept soundlessly. she only cried when the nurse entered the fusion needle to her vein, but after the doctor examine her and gave her the medicine, she turned sleepy.
Jun yawned, no matter how afraid he is of tomorrow, finally the sleepy feeling take over his body, his lashes became so much heavier and he dozed off on Yuri’s side.

“Jun where were you? I called you many times,” Nino’s voice stabbed him so early in the morning after Jun who just woke up confusedly searching for his phone which vibrated nonstop in his bag. He was distracted by Yuri last night and didn’t even care about anything else, moreover a phone call.
“I’m in hospital, Yuri had high fever,” Jun explained shortly, “What’s going on?”
“What?!” Nino yelled at the other side, “Yuri, hospitalized? Tell me the address, I’ll run there.”
Jun mentioned the hospital name along with the address and Nino said that he would be there as soon as he can. As the older ended up the call, Jun saw Yuri woke up. Her eyes analyzed her surrounding,
“Daddy,” she called when their eyes met. Jun leaned to her and kissed her temple.
“Daddy’s here,” he whispered to the little girl, touched her forehead which wasn’t as hot as last night. Ogura and Aiba entered the room, smiled to them.
“Get well soon Yuri chan,” Aiba’s hand wiped her head and he turned to Jun, “Jun kun I will leave now, but you can call me anytime if you need something,” the man straightened his coat, he bowed a bit to Ogura as well.
“Thanks Aiba san, I’ll be fine, Nino would come in a moment,” Jun said, forgot that Aiba had something with Nino because the taller still formed a smile on his lips when Jun mentioned his brother’s name.
“Thanks uncle Aiba,” Yuri thanked the man with her weak voice. Aiba gave his best smile to the little girl before leaving the room.
“Ogura san, you don’t need to accompany me all time, you must have many things to do today, I shouldn’t take more of your time.” Jun spoke to the old man.
“Are you sure you can handle it alone?” Ogura questioned. Jun nodded in response, he felt guilty that everybody became so troubled because of him.
“Alright then, I’ll return home but if you need something, me and my wife would come immediately,” he patted Jun’s shoulder, gave Yuri a quick kiss on her temple and walked towards the door. Jun followed him, the old man turned to him and said, “You’re not alone Jun kun, these difficulties must over soon.”
“Thank you Ogura san,” Jun said. He watched the man until he disappeared then comeback inside. Yuri still awake, smiled to him. Jun stepped closer to her, admiring his daughter for becoming so strong.
“I love you Yuri,” he kissed Yuri’s hair, felt so grateful that she’s okay. The nurse entered the room, brought her breakfast. Jun took the bowl and feed her even though Yuri seems didn’t want to gulp the food.
“I don’t want anymore,” Yuri pushed the spoon, shook her head and looked at Jun as if he tried to give her poison.
Jun was about to pursue her when someone entered the room. He thought that the doctor came to examine Yuri, but the one who appeared was Nino.
“How is she?” he asked, put his bag on the floor and stepped towards the bed.
“Yuri, are you okay?”
“Uncle Nino,” Yuri spoke weakly to Nino who stroked her head softly, “Yuri wants to go home,” she said.
“We’ll go home soon,” Nino smiled to the kid, “Jun can you take my bag?”
Jun took the bag from the floor and handed the older.
“Look what I bring for you,” Nino withdrew something from his bag, a panda doll. Yuri held it lovingly with her free hand and kissed Nino’s cheek in return.
“Uncle Nino, will you bring Papa home too?” Yuri innocently offered the question. Jun looked at him sharply challenging the other to insult his husband but Nino looked confused since he didn’t answer Yuri for few seconds.
“I saw you at the jail yesterday, is that mean you bad guy too?” Yuri continued and surprised Jun since he didn’t aware he saw his brother there yesterday.
“Do you want your Papa home?” Nino questioned back. Yuri nodded immediately, holding the panda closer to her. “I want to play with Papa.”
Nino didn’t say anything to Yuri afterwards, he distracted the topic and talk about something else. When the doctor came to examine her, he grabbed Jun’s elbow and dragged him outside.
“I talked to Sakurai san,” he said, showed his professional face to Jun but also with another color which Jun never see before, “Perhaps we can help your husband out from this situation,” he continued with doubt tone but it was enough to make Jun almost yelled in delight.
“Is there any possibility for him to be freed from any acquisition?” Jun questioned. He already waited for this time to come, when Ohno would got the truth because he was totally innocent and will never think about such crime. “Would you become his lawyer?”
“I do it for Yuri,” Nino murmured unclearly, “I realized how she’s very lonely without him and no matter how hard I try to become his best uncle, I am not his father,” he continued bitterly.
“You’re her best uncle,” Jun held Nino’s shoulder, smiled to him and felt that they are truly brothers,
“And can you call Satoshi’s name, it would bring no harm for you,” Jun nodded to the other who smirked to him.
“I can’t believe finally I do it,” he ignored Jun’s request, backed inside earlier than him. Jun let him accompany Yuri meanwhile he buy lunch at the hospital’s canteen. He must say that Ogura was right, all these difficulties must over soon.
***
“Daddy, can I help you?” Yuri took the cucumber and managed to wash it on the sink which is too high for her. It’s the third day since the doctor let her home, she was completely recover from her fever but Jun still too much worry about her that he didn’t permit Yuri to play outside.
“Of course, come on,” Jun lifted her and let her wash the cucumber. It has been a long time for him to hear Yuri’s laugh. It warmed his heart more than anything, he missed his happy times, his head was so troubled like the labyrinth for these two months with all the things that happened.
Nino called him few times to tell him about the development of the cases he’s handling including Ohno’s. Jun can see some hidden motivation that made him to stay here longer than what he expected. The way Nino talked about the new chief during his calls made him wonder if his brother is in love with that Sakurai.
“Let’s make delicious lunch for uncle Nino,” Jun told his daughter who nodded, watched him seriously while cutting the cucumber she washed just now.
“He promised me to bring Papa home,” she said.
“Really?” Jun asked, pretended that he didn’t know about it, but the truth is he listened every word Nino said to Yuri at the hospital.
Nino kept telling him that he did it for Yuri and he still hate Ohno. Jun didn’t argue anything about that, it’s okay if Nino still can’t forgive Ohno but as the time goes by maybe they can be friend, imagining they fishing together makes him giggle but he hopes it can be the reality.
“Can I go to the sea again when Papa home?” Yuri woke him up from his daydreaming. Jun blinked confusedly, he doesn’t want to see Matsuoka’s face for the rest of his life and he would never let him step close to his daughter.
“No,” Jun answered louder than what he means. He quickly realized his mistake and continued with softer tone.
“Yuri just recovered, you’ll be sick again if you go to the sea,” he lied, finished the cucumber and arranged it on the plate. He continued to pour the powder into the bowl and took the chicken, mixed them before he cook it with the frying fan.
The door fluttered open and Nino appeared in but what Jun didn’t expect was there’s another person followed him, no other than Sakurai, the new chief.
“Jun, here I bring you some fruit,” Nino handed him the plastic bag but Jun eyes still on Sakurai’s face, it looked so weird to see that man inside his house.
“Errrrr,” he didn’t know what to say, but Nino saved him from his terrible greeting.
“This is Sakurai san, the new chief,” he introduced them, “Sakurai san, this is my brother.”
“We already know each other,” Sakurai said. He was not in formal suit this Sunday afternoon but still so neat.
“I’m sorry that my house is so mess,” Jun said shyly. His hands still dirty of the powder.
“Please take a seat,” he gestured them to sit. Meanwhile Sakurai stepped to the chair, Nino whispered to Jun, “It’s rare for the chief to enter my client’s house, so you’d better welcome him well.”
Jun chuckled, he never thought that Nino can tell such a joke to him. He remembered how they fought at the first time he knew that Ohno was jailed. Maybe if Nino’s in love with someone, he would understand how he feels, and he hopes this Sakurai can heal him from his dark past.
Jun didn’t dare to mention about Nino’s girlfriend who abort their baby and finally committed suicide. But seeing Nino’s face looked so radiant, perhaps Sakurai is the right person, he thought.
“You’re the uncle at the jail,” Yuri leaned to Sakurai and spoke to him, “Are you uncle Nino’s friend?” she asked.
“Yes,” Sakurai patted Yuri’s head softly with big kind smile.
“Uncle Nino often talks about you, he said you’re a good girl,” he continued.
Jun smiled to himself. He knew it wasn’t the right time to be happy because he didn’t know whether Ohno would be free or not. But for some reason, the disaster brought a positive effect for him and Nino. Two months ago, he never once thought that Nino would sit on his dining table with his date on Sunday afternoon. He hoped that Nino will find a way to freed Ohno and he believes that the older can do it.
As he finished preparing the lunch, he brought them to the table. Yuri tried to help again, gained a wide smile from Sakurai and Nino. They talked about the case and Jun listened seriously to Sakurai who suspected few police who caught Ohno that night. There’s a possibility that they gave the wrong report and Sakurai thought that they might be bribed by someone.
“Do you know all of your husband’s friends?” Sakurai asked.
Jun collected his memories, he doesn’t know all of them but he met them at least once when he brought Ohno lunch or accompanied him to do his work at the ship in the afternoon.
“No, but…” he remembered Matsuoka’s face when that man almost rapped him. He was so stupid back then because he didn’t report his case to the police, moreover he has an eyewitness. He glanced to Yuri who still enjoy her lunch, he can’t say this thing in front of her.
“Sakurai san, can we talk later?” he asked the chief who nodded and looked serious.
“Sure,” he wiped his mouth with the tissue, “Thanks for the lunch, it’s so delicious,” he praised Jun sincerely.
As they finished, Jun asked Nino to keep an eye on Yuri meanwhile he and Sakurai walked outside. Jun clearly told the chief about what happened that afternoon and how Aiba had saved him, but he was afraid to report the case to the police because it would give Ohno another wave of shock. He didn’t want his husband becomes stressed and think about him while he can’t do anything about it.
Sakurai inhaled deep breath after listened to him, “I’ll help you the best I can,” he said, “I am sure that your husband is innocent,” the chief patted his shoulder.
“Thank you,” Jun bowed to him, “I used to think that nobody I can ask help for,” Jun bit his lip, felt secure for the first time since Ohno was jailed.
They backed inside, Yuri’s laugh can be heard from the stairs and brought his smile back. Jun darted to his apartment, thanked his brother and lifted his daughter.
“The uncles will go home now, say good bye,” Jun told Yuri who waved her hands to Nino and Sakurai.
“Bye bye Uncle Nino, Uncle Sakurai,” she said, both of the adult men replied to wave and stepped to the door.
“I’ll contact you as soon as possible,” Sakurai said again before leaving his apartment. Jun watched them jugged down to the stairs, hoping everything will be okay. Yuri still wave to them until they couldn’t be seen anymore.

Chapter 8
Jun slumped on the chair, the coldness stabbed his skin, he forgot to bring any jacket because he couldn’t think of anything else when he saw Yuri in that state. Aiba said that he would buy something at the nearest convenient store meanwhile Ogura dozed off on another chair. Chapter 8
