Summary: Jun was an interior designer for Remarkable Design Graphic Company, his life had been simple until he met Ohno – a perfectionist client who was very difficult to deal with. On the other hand, Jun eventually found out that Ohno was also a loving dad to his only son…
"Sho?!" Jun looked at the man with disbelief. "Goo... good evening, " he stammered confusedly.
"Jun,” Sho said, showing him a curious gaze, “it’s unexpected to meet you here.”
"Er,-" Jun couldn't find the right word to answer.
"Sakurai san," Ohno limped forward with the help of crutches, heading towards the doorstep. "I'm sorry for causing trouble."
"Not at all," Sho waved his hand, glancing suspiciously at Jun before following Ohno to the living room. "I heard from Okada-san that you got an accident at the project site."
"I'm sorry that I forgot informing you," Jun chirped in and gestured to Sho to sit down.
"It's okay. I guess you are occupied with your works with other clients," Sho said.
"Sort of," Jun smiled. He had handed the design to the new client who luckily accepted without much complains like what Ohno did. "I'll make some drink," Jun said, heading towards the kitchen.
He could hear the glimpse of conversation between Sho and Ohno. Sho seemed to demand the explanation on what was going on between him and Ohno. Sho usually never bothered Jun's personal matter, but Ohno was one of their important clients, so perhaps they needed to clarify many things.
Jun still tried to justify his feeling for Ohno. He was horribly scared when he saw Ohno fell into unconsciousness with a broken leg, he didn't think twice when he signed the form, pretended to be Ohno's spouse so the surgery process could be done faster; he didn't mind taking care of Kazu. He hadn’t admitted it yet, but he was happy in doing all of those things for Ohno.
Did he fall for Ohno?
No, it couldn't be. Ohno was an arrogant-stupid-selfish-sharp tongue old man who didn't think before he spoke or did something which hurt someone else . Furthermore, he was an incapable dad who couldn't take care of his son. Nonetheless, Jun couldn't control his heartbeat when Ohno leaned closer just now. Those shady eyes looked through him and those pretty lips invited him to...
The sound from the water heater woke him up from his run of thoughts. He made three cups of coffee and brought them to the living room.
The three of them talked about random things, aside from work. When Sho was about to leave, Ohno thanked him for sparing his time to pay a visit.
"You're welcome, Ohno san. I'm sorry if our design didn't fit your need, but I hope the new designer will meet your expectation," Sho said, stealing a glance at Jun.
"I'm the one who must apologize for the trouble I’ve caused," Ohno said, glancing at Jun.
"Please take care and see you soon on the project site," Sho replied, turning around towards the door.
Jun walked Sho towards the front yard, mumbling that he would explain everything to Sho at the office. The latter gave him a nod but with no smile. Sho seemed to want to say something to Jun, but he just shook his head.
“Thanks for your visit,” Jun said as Sho stepped out from Ohno’s gate.
"You're welcome, see you at the office."
Jun walked back inside, closed the door behind him and headed towards the living room. Ohno welcomed him with a smile which was enough to make Jun breathless. He didn't realize before that Ohno's smile was this innocent. Jun tried to turn his gaze away, but he couldn't move.
"Jun kun," Ohno called. His voice was soft, it sounded almost like a whisper.
Jun was scared of what came next. He excused himself to the guest room and closed the door behind him. His heart pounded inside his ribs, what was that?
Since when Ohno's smile turned him breathless?
Since when Ohno's voice heard so soft?
Jun closed his eyes, trying to push the thoughts of Ohno away. He needed to clarify things with Sho at the office tomorrow morning. However, the sleepy feeling wouldn't came until pass midnight. He heard Ohno shifted towards his bedroom; half of him wanted to go to the other room and helped the man, but half of him was scared to see Ohno's eyes again.
He woke up early in the next morning and made breakfast for Ohno and Kazu. He wrote a memo and put it on the dining table before left the house. Jun knew that Ohno and Kazu still needed his presence, but maybe he had involved too much on their family matters. He left for his apartment, changed his clothes and headed towards the office.
Sho had been waiting for him when Jun arrived. He buried his face to his palms, facing the table, it seemed that he was in deep thought.
"Sho kun, good morning," Jun greeted him.
Sho lifted his head and looked at Jun's face. He didn't smile, gesturing to Jun to sit down on the chair across from him.
"About yesterday at Ohno san's place," Jun began. "I was there to help him, he has no one..."
Sho stopped him halfway and handed him a piece of paper.
"I personally think you shouldn't mix work and private things," Sho said.
"What do you mean?" Jun asked, even though he already knew what Sho would say.
"You befriend our client and more than that, you stayed over at his house, that is forbidden, it's so unprofessional."
"Wait," Jun cut him, "I don't get you. I never read such rules in this company. Besides, I didn't befriend him for the sake of professional related things."
Sho looked at him with a strange gaze which Jun never seen before.
"I can't let our designs quality decrease because of unnecessary closeness between you and our client."
Jun turned his gaze away; he wasn't in the mood to argue with Sho. The things between him and Ohno were the last thing he wanted to discuss with Sho. They never interfered each other’s business and the way Sho talked to him somehow pissed him off.
"Is there anything else you want to tell me?" Jun asked.
"The paper I gave you," Sho pointed, "is your next assignment. It's a big project and it's your promotion as well."
"Promotion?"
"Yes," Sho said, walking around and approaching Jun. He leaned against his desk with his hands crossed over his chest. "If you take that project, you'll be promoted as the branch leader in Osaka."
Jun scanned what was written in the paper he was holding and glanced at Sho.
"I need time to think about it," Jun said. "Now if you excuse me."
Jun rose off the chair and headed the exit, but when he was about to get out, Sho called him again.
"Jun, remember that we can't work properly if our emotion involved."
Jun didn't answer; he closed the door behind him and walked to his office room. He put down the paper on his desk and looked at the concrete jungle outside of his window. It was still eight in the morning, he and Sho were the first to be at their office. Still this early but Sho had his mood turn upside down.
Jun's thoughts ran to Ohno and Kazu. He wondered if Kazu could go to school without problem this morning. He was worried that Ohno still had a problem using the crutches; he was afraid that both of them would argue again if he wasn't around. Come to think of it, he was almost a stranger to Ohno. He had stepped too far to Ohno's private matters.
Should he go to Osaka for the project?
That mean he wouldn't have enough time to meet with Ohno or Kazu. He would be occupied with work, trip, site visiting, meetings and many others work related stuffs.
Why Ohno and Kazu meant so much for him now? Jun never put aside his career up until now. Osaka project was his best chance to get promoted and lead the branch office. It was something he had been waiting for since both of them started this company together. He didn’t want to lose from Sho anyway.
He inhaled deeply and sank onto his chair. What happened to him for these past weeks? He wasn't himself at all and he even couldn't figure out why.
***
"Jun san, are you busy this evening?" Kazu phoned him at around four in the afternoon.
"Not really, but I think I can't go to your house tonight, I have something to do," Jun said, checking his agenda. He had a working dinner with a client that night.
"Oh, it's alright," Kazu answered. "By the way, my Dad got a free trip to hot spring this weekend, would you like to join us?"
"Hot spring?" Jun confirmed.
"Yes," Kazu's voice was full of excitement, "would you? Please. I don't want to be alone with my Dad, besides, it would be great if you can join, I mean..."
"Kazu kun, I'll save the date, okay," Jun said.
"Really?"
"Yes, I'll come by tomorrow night," Jun said.
"That's terrific. Thanks Jun san, I'll inform my Dad, Kazu hung up and ended the call.
The image of Ohno's delightful face pictured in Jun's eyes, he looked at his phone for minutes after ending the call. He must admit to himself that he missed Ohno, there was some kind of a hole inside his heart when he didn't see the man. He remembered how Ohno insulted his design and told him to remake it. It was weird that Jun didn't really get mad for what Ohno had done to him, on the contrary, Ohno's protest had helped him to do better
Jun withdrawal his agenda from his bag and wrote the plan for the weekend. He smiled, imagining the prospect of hot spring trip with Ohno and Kazu. He didn't know whether he must happy or sad for Ohno's accident. If it wasn't because of the falling elevator, both of them probably still on each other's nerves. The hot spring trip had helped him to put aside the Osaka project for a while. He could think about it later.
***
"Jun san!"
Kazu's bright smile welcomed him as he opened the door for Jun.
"Kazu kun, how are you?" Jun beamed, following the teenager inside the house.
"I'm good, but my Dad still struggle to use the crutches," he said, grinning.
Jun chuckled, putting down his belongings on the armchair. He wondered where Ohno was, but it wasn't for long since he heard something hit the ground and the groan of pain from the man.
"God damn it!" Ohno cursed.
Jun rushed towards Ohno's bedroom and found the man on the floor. His crutches were lying hopelessly beside him.
"Are you okay?" Jun asked, trying hard not to laugh.
"Never been better," Ohno replied sarcastically, but he managed to smile when he saw Jun.
Jun helped the man by pulling him on his armpits from behind. Ohno's short hair tickled his face; he could smell his shampoo which somehow made his heart beat unpleasantly. He sat Ohno down on his bed and took his crutches. It was his first time to be at Ohno's bedroom, it was a little messy with a few dirty T-shirts on the couch and empty mineral water bottles on the side table.
"Thanks," Ohno said.
"Are you sure you want to go for hot spring trip?" Jun asked, glancing at Ohno’s injured leg. It must be troublesome to walk with that leg.
"Of course, I'll be dying from boredom if I stay at home this long," Ohno said, shaking his head.
"I don't think it's a good idea to bath with that broken leg."
"I can enjoy the scene and delicious sushi," Ohno looked at Jun. They sat side by side closely, Jun could count Ohno's eyelashes even.
"Dad, Jun san brought cake for us," Kazu entered the room which made them jolt on their seat and shifted further.
"Oh, t...thanks," Ohno stammered confusedly.
"What happened?" Kazu stepped closer, "Did you say unnecessary thing to Jun san? Again?"
"No," Jun shook his head, smiling at Kazu, "your Dad said that his leg is going to be okay."
"If he can't join us, it's totally fine with me. Jun san and I can be alone," Kazu said firmly, sitting down on the couch with arms crossed in front of his chest.
"I'll go with you, young man," Ohno said, glancing at Jun. "I can't let you alone with Jun kun."
"Yeah, remembering how you accused me as a creepy cradle snatcher, it's dangerous to let us alone," Jun said, chuckling.
"I'm sorry," Ohno said. Was it just his imagination or Jun saw Ohno's face blushed.
"Let's prepare," Jun stood up from the bed. "I can help you pack your belongings."
"Thanks," Ohno said gratefully, taking the crutches and placed them beside him.
"I have finished packing. I'll wait for you at the living room," Kazu said, rising off the couch and headed the door. "Jun san, do you bring your camera?"
"Yes," Jun nodded.
"Terrific," Kazu's smile was so bright when he left the room.
"He's so cute when he got excited," Jun commented, looking at Ohno whose eyes was on the door where Kazu had just disappeared.
"I wonder if you have some kind of magic to bring his smile back," Ohno said. “He used to be a short-tempered boy and always frown all the time, especially when he sees me.”
"There is no magic, just an ability to understand a rebel teenager,” Jun shrugged.
"And the handsomeness which melt everyone," Ohno mumbled.
"Sorry?" Jun pretended that he didn't hear what Ohno said. His heart skipped a beat when he heard those words spoken from Ohno’s mouth. It was unbelievable that he could say a compliment when all he did for all this time was insulting Jun.
“Nothing,” Ohno mumbled. He coughed to hide his nervousness and told Jun that he needed to use the bathroom.
Jun watched the man disappear beyond the door; he tried to calm himself down but it seemed that his heart was betraying him by beating so hard. He busied himself with Ohno’s belongings; tucking them inside a small suitcase and let it open for Ohno to check later. He went to Kazu’s room and listened to the boy’s story about the pictures he had taken which won the first place at school.
***
The hot spring was located at Hakone, the three of them sat side by side in the bullet train.. Somehow, the three of them looked like a happy family who went outside the town for a trip. Kazu slept half the way which gave Jun and Ohno time to talk, even though the topic was about the fishes which Ohno caught on his last fishing trip.
They arrived at the hot spring inn around seven in the evening. Jun helped Ohno to get out and then woke Kazu up. The three of them headed the reception desk to check-in. Their room was a large one with a connecting door – which made Jun somehow relief. He didn’t want to sleep in the same room with Ohno – not yet.
Jun and Kazu entered the open spaced bath meanwhile Ohno read a book in his room. Jun looked at the dark sky above them; he felt a strange happiness sneaked into his heart, he never been to hot spring with anyone before. He liked to spend his weekend alone, he never thought that spending weekend together could be this fun.
Kazu snuggled to him and rested his head on Jun’s naked shoulder. Kazu’s arm had gotten better; the doctor told them that the gypsum could be opened within a week.
“Jun san, you aren’t a cradle snatcher like my Dad said, right?” the boy asked.
“I don’t know, maybe I’m a cradle snatcher without I’m knowing it,” Jun answered.
“That’s creepy,” Kazu mumbled, but he didn’t move away from Jun.
They finished bathing and changing into yukata. Ohno had been waiting for them at the dining table when Jun and Kazu entered. They had delicious sushi, sashimi, nabe, lobster and various kind of tempura. By the time Jun and Ohno had the sake, Kazu had already fell asleep on the futon. Jun covered him with the blanket and joined Ohno on the other room to continue their drinking session.
Ohno talked about the book he had been reading at first, but then their topic changed into work. It reminded Jun of the offer of Osaka project.
“I called Okada today and told him that it’s okay to use your previous design, I’ve given up on the design Aiba-san sent me,” Ohno said, sipping the forth glass of Japanese sake. Jun could tell that this man was a strong drinker; he poured another glass and put the bottle with more strength than he meant.
“Sorry,” Ohno mumbled, touching Jun’s finger accidentally.
“I want to discuss something with you,” Jun said.
“I’m all ears,” Ohno replied, smiling at him. The smile was innocent and calming.
“I got an offer for a project in Osaka. It’s a kind of promotion for me to lead the branch office.”
“Isn’t that great,” Ohno said. He showed Jun a happy face but somehow it didn’t reach his eyes. “What are you waiting for, just grab the chance.”
“I don’t know,” Jun looked at Ohno’s shady eyes. “I feel there’s something which weighed me down.”
“What is it?” Ohno asked.
Jun bit his lower lip; he turned his gaze to the wall across from them, perhaps Ohno was the reason of his doubt. He didn’t want to be apart with this man – he wanted to stay close to Ohno for as long as he could. Ohno took Jun’s hand and squished it gently as if giving him an answer for his confusion. Ohno’s hand was soft and strong at the same time – it warmed Jun in a magic way.
“You confused me,” Jun whispered, giving up to his endless thoughts.
“Sorry for that,” Ohno whispered back.
They leaned closer; their breaths smelled sake but it didn’t matter anymore as Ohno’s lips pressed into his. Jun’s chest was nearly exploded from nervousness, but he didn’t let go. He welcomed the warmth of Ohno’s lips, letting the man kiss him deeper. He opened his mouth slightly and replied the kiss. Jun never imagined that his first kiss with Ohno would be this burning.
Ohno put his hand on the back of Jun’s neck and pulled him closer; their tongue met and intertwined like two wild snakes. Jun had run of breath, but Ohno showed no sign of stopping, both of them closed their eyes and sank themselves into the kiss. Ohno’s finger slipped to the underneath of Jun’s yukata, caressing him in the way which made shiver. Jun couldn’t stop it; he felt an indescribable pleasure rushed to every vein and every cell of his body. Ohno moved his finger to Jun’s thigh, crawling towards his crotch. That was when Jun pulled away – with so much effort from Ohno.
Both of them looked at each other; panted hard as if they had just finished sprint. Jun tried to speak, but the words won’t form in his lips.
“I shouldn’t…we shouldn’t…” Jun muttered.
“We don’t know each other that well, our feeling probably unreal,” Jun said, rising off from the chair.
“Wait,” Ohno gripped his wrist. “I...i…..”
Jun shook his head. He was scared that what he felt for Ohno was a mere sympathy towards Kazu. The feeling could be just temporary – he was afraid that they would end up hurting each other.
Ohno’s eyes widened; he tried to stand up from the chair, but his broken leg didn’t permit him. Jun turned away and left the man to the room where Kazu was asleep. His heart was still beating wildly; screaming Ohno’s name in every beat. He couldn’t fall in love with Ohno – he shouldn’t feel this way.
Jun couldn’t sleep that night and he was sure that Ohno was the same. He pretended to fall asleep beside Kazu when Ohno entered the room. They ended up sleeping at the same room with Kazu sandwiched between them.
***
They acted as if nothing happened the night before. Jun accompanied Kazu to take pictures on the next day, leaving Ohno at the inn.
“Jun san, you’re daydreaming,” Kazu touched his elbow lightly. They bought two ice creams and enjoyed them on the park bench.
“Sorry, Kazu kun,” Jun pushed the thoughts of Ohno away. “Can I see the pictures you have taken?”
“Sure,” Kazu handed him the camera. Jun saw them one by one without really focusing to the pictures. Ohno’s smile swam in his mind and it won’t disappear, no matter how hard Jun tried to block it. He inhaled deeply; how could he let himself fall for Ohno – the last person he expected to make him sleepless.
Jun’s phone vibrated inside his pocket, he thought that the message was from Ohno, he was surprised when he found Sho’s name on the screen.
‘Jun, would you join me for dinner tomorrow night? I have booked an Italian restaurant, you mentioned that you want to have Italian food. I’m looking forward for your reply’

Date: 2017-10-18 09:59 am (UTC)I think Sho is just confused because he doesn't want to lose Jun to someone like Ohno, perhaps he enjoys the attention he got from Jun before Ohno appears between them.
Jun needs to think of the next step whether he will take the opportunity to Osaka or not, it depends on what happens between him and Ohno.
thanks again for reading this chapter as well :)

Date: 2017-10-15 09:50 pm (UTC)Jun and Ohno are cute together. I hope Jun will accept his feelings for Ohno soon. Considering their rocky start, it's probably difficult for him though. Kazu is adorable too.
Thanks for this update!

Date: 2017-10-18 10:02 am (UTC)Maybe Jun needs some times to think about his feeling towards Ohno because Ohno is not that bad, right? and perhaps Kazu will help him think too, who knows

Date: 2017-10-16 12:24 am (UTC)(I've never read manga, but if I would have to, I would start with One Piece, because of Nino, of course. The truth is that I have a problem with things too extensive... the anime has more than 800 episodes!!! Good grief!!!)

Date: 2017-10-18 10:06 am (UTC)Maybe Ohno is just someone who's confused and doesn't know how to show his feeling, particularly to someone he loves and he definitely fall for Jun (because he kissed Jun, omg)
*The anime (sigh) has long episodes, but I think they're wroth watching, I really love the characters and there is no stupid girls like in Naruto, everyone is perfect in One Piece
I'm still watching the old episodes and I hope I can catch up in the next few months :)

Date: 2017-10-17 02:23 am (UTC)First of all, I am so happy that Kazu is finally showing great improvement
within himsekf. He's so happy. For sure, it's not just because of Jun but also
because his relationship with Satoshi is getting better and better but yeah... it\s
a big thanks to Jun's care! Honestly, I wwasn't expecting the confession part to
be kind of early (for me) but believe me, I was freaking blown away! Hahahahh!
You know when it's Juntoshi being all lovey dovey I always go crazy! LOL!
Satoshi was definite;y hoping that Jun will not accept that offer to Osaka...
It seems his charms are working on Jun!
Oh gosh, Sho's invitation must have meant something. Did I guess it right?
I think he likes Jun and he was trying to separate him from Satoshi by promoting
him to Osaka! Wooooah I was being straightforward but I think it's pretty obvious
that he's trying to interfere with Jun and Satoshi's development in their retionship.
Perhaps, he had seen that coming when he saw how Satoshi interacted with Jun. If he's
only after doing great business, he would never accept Jun's withdrawal from Satoshi's
project right away and encourage him to finish it till the end. Oh well, let's see what
Satoshi's going to do to prove his feelings to Jun. Thanks for the update dear! <3.

Date: 2017-10-21 10:25 am (UTC)the part about kazu is right, it's because of jun and also ohno, if his father isn't in his right mind, the teenager will always have hard time to deal with him, thanks to jun
about the confesion (it wasn't a confesion, though, because ohno is just kissing him and didn't say a thing about love, maybe he is just blown away by the atmosphere) which will make jun more confused
the offer to osaka is kinda too sudden as if it was sho's effort to make jun and ohno apart from each other.
perhaps sho has some kind of possession towards jun, only that he didn't admit it and when jun found ohno he became aware that he liked jun, well, let's see what will happen to jun in the next chapter
thanks so much for commenting in this part as well ;)

Date: 2017-10-20 09:23 am (UTC)But, but the KISS happened. yay! Although it made Jun even more confused but it seems that Ohno has already fallen for him.
*whispers* I hope Jun is not taking that promotion *end of whispers*
I think Kazu already think Jun as a family with the way he treated Jun, even better than his own father. It's really cute <3

Date: 2017-10-21 10:28 am (UTC)the dinner invitation is kinda surprising, right? it seems that sho turns into a jerk all of a sudden
about the kiss, i think it will give.jun another wave of confusion, because he hasn't concluded his feelings towards ohno
kazu loves jun's presence i guess because he can make ohno into senses again and become a better dad for him ;)
